With new technology there are always unethical persons willing and ready to take advantage of others. Identity Theft is a big problem costing consumers and institutions millions of dollars each year. The latest scam out there is called SPOOFING. There is software and online websites that allow callers to present another business name and phone number to the caller ID of the person they are calling. Putting a Stop on Caller ID Spoofing
- Do not give any personal or account information over the phone to anyone who calls you.
- Ask the caller for their name, position at company, branch or division calling from and a call back number. You can easily verify by looking up the number of that branch and calling directly.
- Share this email with friends and family to avoid any future identify theft.
- Purchase an identity theft assistance program for yourself and family members.
